Potatoe VS Potato? I guess really i should have labelled my photos with 'Potato' as the recipe is from America after all, oh well.
I am not sure how authentically southern this recipe actually is, my friend who is from the south had never even heard of it before mashaAllah
After googling pics i discovered not only mine had huge cracks in the surface, this is more than likely due to the high sugar content, my oven running too hot or a combination of both factors.
Once you taste this quick bread you will definitely feel your in autumn, even if in fact you are in the hot desert.

@sanaa - well it's quite hard to describe actually as I thought it would just taste sweet after the natural sugars in th potatoe and 1cup granulated sugar but its to all that sweet, I would say it tastes a bit like carrot cake but milder in flavour which is perfect cos I'm not a huge fan of carrot cake lol but I think the pecan nuts are a great addition to this bread and give it lots of texture otherwise it would just be too moist. I will be honest dh doesn't like it that was even before he tasted it because I told him what it was made of lol so from now I think I will only bake when he asks for something specific because i get upset easily!
@umm Imran - inshaAllah sis I hope you try and like it.
Hi Asmaa, I grew up in South. I have been living in New York for 30 years now and consider myself a Souhern Belle at heart. I have to say your bread looks as Southern as they come. Sweet Potato bread is as popular as Sweet Potato Pie in the Southern region of America. You did a fantastic job and I will definitely try your recipe out. I have a few friends down South that I will be sharing your recipe with...drooling over the pictures! YUM!!!
